This is for all the punk-ass bitches.

The weekend=over.  It was a goodun’, wasn’t it?  The sun was out.  Birds were chirping.  All Roads Music Festival in Belfast was another huge success.  I’m still bummed that I wasn’t able to go, but c’est la vie.  If you were in the same boat, I hear we missed a ton of great performances from Maine musicians.  I went on a social media diet this weekend (my brain felt like it was melting and I really needed a break from knowing things), but I did find out what I missed music-wise.  From indie to country, to rap and rock ‘n roll, this past weekend did not disappoint those who were able to attend.  What really bummed me out was that I missed Portland punk band The Worst (Brooke Binion is a girl crush of mine) and rock trio Weakened Friends.  One of these days, Alice…

We can’t dwell too much on what we missed out on.  All we can do is look forward to all the shows that are coming up, amirite?  If you’re a little punk bitch like I am, and you’re able to make it down to Rollinsford, NH tonight, then you can see Gant, Spillers and Jimmy Jacked (all southern Maine punk bands.  See earlier blog post “This Kid Does, In Fact, Like Punk Rock for a Jimmy Jacked introduction) are playing with NH’s Slow Coyote at Sue’s on Front Street.  Punk rock, on a Monday?  Mufffugggahsaywhaaaaa??!!  If I didn’t live so bloody far away and didn’t have to be at work at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow, then I’d be on board.  Distance does not make my heart fond of anything.

Sweet flyer, bro.

I’ve yet to see Spillers or Gant.  I keep on missing ’em.  Everyone says they rock, though.  Everyone is good enough for me to go on.  Next time they play at Flask or Empire, I’m there, bro.  Check out the bands on tonight’s bill:  http://slowcoyote.bandcamp.com; https://www.facebook.com/spillers207/; https://jimmyjacked.bandcamp.com/; https://www.facebook.com/gantpunx/.  Got it?  Good.  Now, runneth thy ass to NH and turn a lousy Monday into a fucking awesome one.

Thursday, May 25th brings us some Metal Madness at Chit Chat Lounge in Haverhill, MA.  A long drive, sure.  However, Wiscasset’s own Dark Rain is playing with 6 other bands.  It’s sure to be a banger.  There are some metal AF bands on the bill, and if you don’t go to this show, I am not responsible for what happens to you.*  Show starts at 7.

Kick off the long Memorial Day weekend with a nice lil’ rock show this Friday night (5/26) at Empire in Portland.  Will Bradford (SeepeopleS) and Ex Post (Renee Coolbrith, C$ Burns) will be joining former members of 90’s “low rock” band Morphine, who have created a new band honoring the progressive sounds of its predecessor called Vapors of Morphine.  Baritone sax, 2-string slide bass, and drums.  I’m intrigued.  $12 in advance (and proof that you’re 21+) gets you through the door.  Tix are available for purchase at www.holdmyticket.com.  Boom.

Of course, there’s shit happening over the weekend, too.  I’ll get to it, sugarbritches.  But for right now, Auntie H needs a margarita.  It’s been a day 😉

*Nothing will happen to you.  Metal musicians like to frolick in flowers and pet kittens.  Show them your kitties.
